01 • The Opening

SACRED
& TIRED.

This isn't a self-help book. It's a soul check.

Read the Opening

There are women who have spent so much time being strong that they don't even remember what it feels like to simply breathe.

Women who pray while they're exhausted.
Who mother while they're healing.
Who work while they're overwhelmed.
Who smile while carrying things nobody knows about.

I know because I've been her.
I'm Shereitta Myrick, and this is part of my story.

For Every Woman Holding It Together With Prayer, Pressure & Grit

I know what it feels like to be tired in places sleep can't fix.

Not just physically tired.

I'm talking about the kind of tiredness that sits in your chest. The kind where somebody asks, "Are you okay?" and you automatically say, "I'm good," because explaining the truth feels like another thing you don't have the energy to do.

The kind of tired that comes from being needed all the damn time.

Your children need you.

Your family needs you.

Your bills need to be paid.

Your business needs attention.

Your house needs something.

Your mind won't shut the hell up.

And somewhere in the middle of making sure everybody else is okay, you realize you haven't even checked on yourself.

That's the kind of tired I'm talking about.

Sacred & Tired.

Because somehow, I was still praying while I was exhausted.

Still loving people while I was hurt.

Still showing up while parts of me were falling apart.

Still trying to build something while trying to figure out how to put myself back together.

And the crazy part?

From the outside, I probably looked like I was handling it.

That's what we do.

Women become experts at making chaos look organized.

We can cry in the bathroom, wash our face, walk back out, and ask:

"What do you need?"

We can be completely overwhelmed and still remember everybody else's appointments.

We can be heartbroken and still make sure the kids eat.

We can be questioning our entire life and still show up to work.

We can be financially stressed and still find a way to make something happen.

We can be angry, disappointed, exhausted, grieving, healing—and still somehow keep moving.

And people call that strength.

Sometimes it is.

But sometimes?

Sometimes we're just tired as hell.

Sacred & Tired Isn't a Self-Help Book. It's My Truth.

I didn't write this book because I figured life out.

I wrote it because I lived it.

I've been the woman trying to hold everything together while quietly wondering how much longer I could keep doing it.

I've been a mother trying to raise children while still figuring myself out.

I've been a woman trying to heal while life kept handing me new shit to deal with.

I've prayed.

I've cried.

I've gotten angry.

I've made mistakes.

I've made some decisions I wish I could take back.

I've questioned myself.

I've questioned God.

I've started over.

I've had days where I felt powerful as hell and days where getting through the day was the accomplishment.

And somewhere along the way, I realized something:

I didn't need to become a different woman.

I needed to stop abandoning the woman I already was.

That meant learning boundaries.

Learning when to walk away.

Learning that everybody doesn't deserve access to me.

Learning that being a good mother doesn't mean being a perfect mother.

Learning that making money doesn't automatically mean you've made peace with money.

Learning that building a business doesn't mean you never doubt yourself.

Learning that healing doesn't mean I never have bad days.

And learning that softness isn't weakness.

Sometimes softness is what happens when you've finally spent enough years fighting to survive.

Chapter One

Held Together With Prayer & Pressure

Some women are held together with grace.

Some with grit.

Some with caffeine and a prayer they haven't even finished praying yet.

Me? Probably all three.

There were days I had to talk myself into getting out of bed.

Days when I had responsibilities waiting on me before I had even figured out how I was feeling.

Days when I didn't have the luxury of falling apart because somebody still needed dinner, somebody needed something handled, a bill still needed to be paid, and life wasn't about to pause because I was overwhelmed.

So I did what so many women do.

I kept going.

Sometimes I prayed.

Sometimes I cried.

Sometimes I got quiet.

Sometimes I got angry.

Sometimes I said, "Okay, God, I know You didn't bring me this far for this to be the end of my story."

And then I got up and tried again.

Not because I always felt strong.

Because I knew I couldn't stay down.

That is the part people don't always see.

They see the woman who eventually gets the house paid off.

They see the business.

They see the accomplishments.

They see the confidence.

They see the woman who looks like she has finally figured some things out.

They don't always see the woman who had to fight through some very dark seasons to become her.

I do.

And that's why I wrote this book.

Not to tell you how to live.

Not to pretend I have some magical formula.

Not to sit here and give you ten steps to becoming a better woman.

I can't teach you how to live your life.

I can only tell you what mine taught me.

I can tell you what hurt.

What humbled me.

What pissed me off.

What changed me.

What I had to let go of.

What I had to rebuild.

What I had to forgive.

What I had to stop tolerating.

What I had to learn about myself.

And what happened when I finally stopped believing that struggle was supposed to be my permanent address.

Because it wasn't. It isn't.

And maybe that's why you're reading this.

Maybe you're tired too.

Maybe you're holding together a family, a career, a business, a relationship, a household, or simply your damn self.

Maybe everybody thinks you're okay because you haven't stopped moving.

Maybe you're the one everybody calls when they need something.

Maybe you've become so good at being strong that nobody notices when you're hurting.

Maybe you're in the middle of your own rebuilding season and you don't even have the words for it yet. If that's you... come sit with me for a while.

You don't have to pretend in these pages.

Neither will I.

04 • There's More to the story

If this felt a little too familiar...

Sacred & Tired is about motherhood, healing, boundaries, faith, money, business, freedom, mistakes, growth, and becoming a woman who no longer has to live her entire life in survival mode.

I didn't write this because I have all the answers.

I wrote it because I made it through some things I thought would break me.

And if you're still in the middle of yours, I want you to know something I had to learn for myself:

The story isn't over just because this chapter hurts.
